Christina G. Wilson, MSW, RSW

Counseling Services

Christina is registered clinical therapist who is a graduate of Acadia University, Dalhousie University’s Maritime School of Social Work, and the University of Calgary.  She has worked in inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, as well as with non-profit community agencies since 1997.  Her area of specialty is solution-focused therapy with individuals, families, and couples which is based on the recognition of one’s strength to cope and persevere through the challenges of daily life, as well as crises that arise. Her approach to helping is guided by the core beliefs that clients are the experts of their own experience and often possess the best solutions to problems and that all of us have the capacity to be mindful or present in a manner that focuses the energy required to heal and thrive despite the stress that life presents.  Christina’s services are covered by most major health insurance providers and employee assistance programs.

Christina’s main areas of interest are as follows:

  • Preventing and addressing burn-out, compassion fatigue, and vicarious traumatization, particularly with those in the helping professions;
  • Guiding and supporting others to cope and grow through grief and loss related to death, disability, illness, separation, and divorce;
  • Identifying solutions for stressors that impacts one’s experience of balanced living such as restorative sleep, consistent nutrition, regular physical activity, healthy relationships, mental wellness, and a sense of fulfillment and competence; and
  • Assessment and treatment of mental health disorders and teaching clients how to be their own case managers and developers of personalized wellness plans.

When she is not at the office, Christina tries to spend as much time as possible with family, friends, Merl the dog, and her garden.  Leading an active lifestyle with outdoor sports such as running and soccer has helped her heal from injury and loss throughout her life.
